Acer palamtum Bloodgood is one of the best and most popular of the Purple leafed Japanese maples. It is an upright growing variety with deeply cut palm shaped deep purple leaves. Berberis darwinii is one fo the most popular of the barberrys. It is an evergreen medium sized shrub with glossy dark green leaves which carry small spines making them excellent as garden worker creating barriers for unwanted people or animals. As well as functionatility they bear wonderful aesthetic attributes. Also know as redtip or the Christmas berry Photina x fraseri Red Robin is an evergreen shrub of the highest caliber. It is most popular for its vibrant red young foliage which can create a stunning effect [articularly when planted as a hedge. These young red leaves will turn green as the season progresses, however regular judicious pruning will ensure a continuous bright red display. In addition to its beautiful foliage, it displays masses of white flowers in earl summer when left unpruned.

This plant makes an excellent colourful hedge but is equally as impressive when planted as a shrub in a border, a topiary specimen or in a planter.
