Acer palamtum Bloodgood is one of the best and most popular of the Purple leafed Japanese maples. It is an upright growing variety with deeply cut palm shaped deep purple leaves. These are eye-catching throughout the year but in autumn they turn a brilliant red to add wonderful colors to your garden. These plants work brilliantly in an urban garden where they might be protected from scorching winds. Plant with ferns, hostas or agapanthus for a great look.

Acer platanoides Crimson King is one of our best selling trees at Woodstock Trees and Shrubs. It is unique in its ability to hold its deep crimson color throughout the season. A medium sized tree is perfect for most gardens as it will not grow as large as many other trees. In addition it can be regularly pruned to keep size in check or if a reduction in crown is required it can be pollarded easily. Plant as a specimen in a garden, bordering a gateway entrance or planted in an avenue. it always makes a wonderful feature when interplanted with Acer platanoides Drummondii.

Also know as redtip or the Christmas berry Photina x fraseri Red Robin is an evergreen shrub of the highest caliber. It is most popular for its vibrant red young foliage which can create a stunning effect [articularly when planted as a hedge. These young red leaves will turn green as the season progresses, however regular judicious pruning will ensure a continuous bright red display. In addition to its beautiful foliage, it displays masses of white flowers in earl summer when left unpruned.

This plant makes an excellent colourful hedge but is equally as impressive when planted as a shrub in a border, a topiary specimen or in a planter.
