Liriodendron tulipifera

Also know as the Tulip tree due to its distinctly shaped leaves, Liriodendron tulipifera is a deciduous tree that exhibits wonderful butter-yellow autumn foliage. Its flowers are carried in may-June and are yellow-green in colour with orange bands at the base of the petals. This makes a wonderful specimen tree and can be a real focal point in any medium to large garden.

Carpinus betulus Fastigiata

The upright hornbeam is one of the most architectural trees growing in Ireland today. It has an incredibly upright growing habit producing a tree with an upright cone effect. When clipped regularly a very tight cone effect can be created. The autumn foliage of this tree is a buttery yellow and impresses particularly well in an autumn planting containing maples, birch and oak. For maximum effect plant as a specimen or in a tree lined avenue.

Carpinus betulus Fastigiata is available as a feathered tree or on a raised stem standard from 6-8cm trees to 35-40cm.

Berberis darwinii

Berberis darwinii is one fo the most popular of the barberrys. It is an evergreen medium sized shrub with glossy dark green leaves which carry small spines making them excellent as garden worker creating barriers for unwanted people or animals. As well as functionatility they bear wonderful aesthetic attributes. In addition to the attractive glossy foliage , masses of golden yellow flowers are carried in early summer followed by blue-black berries.

The Field maple is best known for its fantastic butter yellow autumn foliage. It has an asymmetrical dome shaped crown and has fantastically fissured bark. It is a tree that is native to most of northern Europe and has a multitude of uses from park tree to hedge.
